HEALTHY HOLIDAYS
Issue 13, Healthy Holidays
I am extremely proud of the concept behind this illustration, as well as how it encompasses the overall message of the article itself; the article touched upon the struggles some students face during the holiday season as individuals with eating disorders, dietary restrictions, and other similar challenges. As someone who was first interested in journalism for the metaphorical "thread" it ties between people, this piece reinstated why I am a student journalist: I act as an agent through which others can share their stories and be heard. From solely an artistic perspective, the composition and structure of the piece is strong, and I like the subtle color coordination found in the sweater, the bow, and the background; this coordination allows for a cohesion throughout the piece and on the page, respectively.
