THE PIPELINE

Issue 16, Recognizing racism, still room for growth

As a direct result of living in a fairly homogenous society, Grosse Pointe South as a whole faces numerous problems in regards to approaching diversity and approaching topics such as internalized/institutionalized racism, integrated discrimination, and ensuring that the voices of minority students are heard and considered.  For example, the suspension rate between South's white and black students is extremely disparaged, and is one of the many examples that contributes to South's lackluster environment.  In terms of the graphic, I'm very proud of the overall idea behind the graphic, as well as the risks I took in terms of presenting the fairly sensitive material.
